A day like today
just makes you feel like a Cougars game is
around the corner and that’s a great
feeling. Even the construction workers,
during their lunch hour, can now have a
mini-picnic outside and take in the warmer
air, instead of retreating to an indoor area
like they have for so many weeks. This
afternoon, the temperature read 70 degrees
(70 degrees!) as I took a walk around the
park to see what’s new. With less than four
weeks until the home opener, we’ve got lots
of updates this week, so here goes:
The Cougars’ old
administrative offices are really evolving
into a full-scale souvenir shop along the
first base side. Carpet and slat wall were
installed recently as well as a set of doors
leading into the shop. The expanded space
allows for more merchandise and novelties to
be displayed and make for more convenient,
year-round shopping for Cougars fans.
Staying on the
first base side, the home clubhouse is being
re-built as lockers were brought back in.
New carpet has been set and workers are
placing in ceiling tile.
The concourse is
taking in more of an open-air feel as the
plastic weatherproof barriers are coming
down. Workers have removed 90 percent of
those barriers to open up the concourse a
bit and reveal the stadium’s true look.
The upstairs
railings have gone green! A fresh coat of
paint was added to the railings for each of
the upstairs areas.
