What's tougher
-- hitting a curveball or installing a drop
ceiling at Elfstrom Stadium? Before this
morning, I would have said "curveball" 10
times out of 10. Now, I'm not so sure.
In talking with Mark, who was busy placing
the framework for the drop ceiling on the
upper deck level, he reassured me that
walking on stilts is just part of the job.
The spring-activated advantage makes his job
easier and can add up to four feet in height
when installing ceilings and sound wiring.
Imagine how much longer it would take if you
were to use a ladder, constantly climbing up
and down when moving from spot to spot! The
stilts cut that time down substantially. To
Mark and the rest of the construction crew
at the ballpark, I'm tipping my
(construction) hat to you.
Sliding glass windows are currently going in
on the first base side of the upper deck
level. The windows will provide that
"open-air" feel for suite holders and I must
say, are pretty cool. Check out the photos
below. It also looks like the roof is
nearing its final stages along the third
base side, as workers continue to lay down
long strips of green roofing pieces.
