Workers
installing the large windows for the atrium
area really had their work cut out for them.
It was a very breezy afternoon when I caught
up with a few of the workers outside of the
new administrative office. They were busy
installing glass panes into the atrium
framing, which will be quite an impressive
structure when completed. The atrium area
will be mostly glass-enclosed and connect
the administrative offices to the ballpark,
including an elevator entrance to the
stadium's brand-new second deck level of
suites.
Late last week, I observed the steady hands
of a crane operator carefully guiding a
group of three workers to the proper
vertical level, before the trio properly
secured a hefty pane into the appropriate
slot. According to one of the workers, the
largest piece of glass weighs a hefty 350
pounds. Wind gusts of 25 mph didn't seem to
bother these guys one bit!
